The RV Rally closed up shop on Saturday afternoon with a late hamburger and hot dog cookout at 2 PM, with lots of watermelon. The final event later that night was the official Sedalia fireworks show at the Fairground grand stand. They started entertainment at six but the official start was nine o\u2019clock. This was a community event. Some from the RV Rally, myself included, wondered to the grand stand for a close up view with sound of the display. Many more were happy to set up lawn chairs and watch from the comfort of the camp ground. I posted a video of the finale on Facebook a few days back.<\/p>\n

Sunday morning was time to check out. All the rain from the first of the week caused problems for several folks, who had a tow truck (think big tow truck) help pull their RV\u2019s from the grass to the gravel road way. This included one big rig parked next to me. For my part no problem. The jacks made a little noise coming out of the mud. Slow acceleration and I pulled out to the gravel. Then pulled the pickup in behind the RV and hooked it up. Rather than leave town I relocated to Chaplin\u2019s RV, a small park just five minutes away. I used the rest of Sunday to buy groceries and do laundry. Then settled in to watch the Women\u2019s World Cup finals over dinner. That was a pretty amazing game, nothing like the predictions but really fun to watch.<\/p>\n

Monday I did some work, I still do that, and made plans to head to South Dakota on Tuesday. I took a little time on Monday afternoon to drive around Sedalia, small town America at its best. Here are a few random photos.<\/p>\n

Monday afternoon severe thunderstorms and a tornado blew through Kansas City, perhaps you heard about that. The Royals game was rained out before it even got started. The TV and my phone blew up with all sorts of storm warnings from about 5 PM until late in the night. In the end the storms dissipated before they reached Sedalia but we still got some heavy rain. Not a lot of places to relocate to in this RV park; may be Walmart up the road. Think they would mind if I window shopped overnight?<\/p>\n

The weather cleared on Tuesday morning and it was time to hit the road. About 6 to 6 and a half hours to the Sioux Falls area of South Dakota. First I had to dump the waste water tanks and hook the truck to the RV. It was about 9:30 before I got on the road. From Sedalia I headed to Kansas City then follow the Missouri River up the western edge of Missouri and Iowa into South Dakota. Filled up just north of Kansas City, that\u2019s a 20 minute stop for half a tank. Got 7.64 mpg on that leg of the journey. Made a couple more stops for lunch and to locate a place to park near Sioux Falls.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
