Welcome to November, I hope this finds you and yours healthy and enjoying the cool fall weather. For the most part we are doing well; or perhaps I should say better than expected. But before I get to the latest news on Mary, I feel moved to share a little of the struggles facing one of my faithful friends.
A week ago Janet Will suffered a bleed on her brain. They called it a subarachnoid hemorrhage, when it was diagnosed a few days later. Since then the doctors have struggled to identify the extent of the problem and to find a suitable treatment. Over the years Janet has been a faithful friend and prayer warrior to many, including our family. I would ask that you keep her and her family in your prayers during this challenging time.
When I see the challenges that so many have faced with sudden changes in health or circumstances, it only makes each day that much more precious. I value each day and the opportunities they present to share our time with each other. Each moment is truly a gift from God.
That brings me back to Mary and our shared journey through life. This week we visited the oncologist and she received what will in all likelihood be her last chemo treatment. While the various enzymes that indicate liver function have fallen from their high point in late August, they have begun to rise again. To go with the rising numbers, she is retaining fluid. To say it nicely she is puffy, very puffy.
On the bright side, with some planning, we can still get out for an occasional social event; most often a hockey game. She can still venture out for short excursions on her own. I would encourage cards, emails and phone calls. If you are in the neighborhood feel free to drop in but give us a call first, just to be sure we are home. Our thought is to enjoy the time we have together, however long it may be.
Your prayers and thoughts have continue to see us through this journey. They are as always deeply appreciated.
Wishing you God’s peace and grace. …Mike
I pray that your hearts will be able to understand. I pray that you will know about the hope given by God’s call. I pray that you will see how great the things are that He has promised to those who belong to Him. ~~ Ephesians 1:18 (New Life Version (NLV))
