This is usually the time of year to reflect on the events of the past year and perhaps on things to come in the year ahead. Most importantly we stop amidst all of the hustle and bustle of the holiday season to remember the greatest gift bestowed on us as we remember the birth of our savior. Today I come to you with a deeper reflection.

Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.
~~ 1 John 3:1

With the changing of the day my best friend, Mary, went home to be with our Father in heaven. After an eight year battle with cancer the end came fairly quickly. Only Friday I saw a sparkle in her eye when a tiny cedar tree arrived with decorations. This was to be the center of our subdued Christmas.

Saturday and Sunday saw a rapid decline in her health. Sunday was a struggle to see life slipping away from a once vibrant personality. At 1:15 this morning, December 15th, the home hospice attendant confirmed that Mary had left this world for the next.

The girls and I appreciate your support in prayer, cards and so many acts of kindness. The miracle is not in the banishment of death but rather in the living of life. Your prayers have made our lives complete and allowed Mary to accomplish so many of the things she dreamed for.

May the peace and grace of our Lord be with each of you!

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
